As a fourth-generation resident of Haldimand County, Bruce F. Mehlenbacher has witnessed firsthand the changes that have shaped our community. His family farmed in Haldimand County until 1984, instilling in him a deep appreciation for the importance of preserving agricultural land and protecting the county's rural character.
From 1954 to 1984, the Mehlenbacher family owned and operated Cayuga Dragway during one of the facility's most successful eras, attracting visitors and generating significant economic activity throughout the region. Bruce later served as General Manager of Cayuga Speedway from 1984 into the 2000s, overseeing operations, working with sponsors and volunteers, and helping promote Haldimand County as a destination for tourism and motorsports.
Building on that experience, Bruce founded JAJ Entertainment and established the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and Pro Bike & Sled Series — organizations that continue to operate across Canada. Throughout his career, he has worked with businesses, volunteers, sponsors, government officials, and community organizations, developing a reputation for leadership, communication, and delivering results.
Community service has always been a priority. Over the past four decades, Bruce has helped organize and support numerous fundraising initiatives, youth programs, charitable events, healthcare causes, and community projects throughout Haldimand County. From the Marty McSorley All-Star Days, which funded improvements to the Cayuga Kinsmen Ball Park, to Hockey Day in Cayuga and many other local initiatives, Bruce has remained committed to giving back to the community he calls home.
Bruce believes effective leadership is built on listening, respect, practical problem-solving, and fiscal responsibility. He is running for Haldimand County Council because he believes residents deserve responsible decision-making, respectful representation, and a strong voice at the council table. He is committed to ensuring that growth decisions reflect local priorities, infrastructure capacity, transparency, and meaningful community consultation.
